Honoring Black History Month: A Commitment to Celebration and Support

We’ve had quite an eventful and tumultuous entry to a new calendar year which has made us at The Ties Program, both reflective and introspective as we continue to hold space for marginalized communities and work to create an environment that values diversity and promotes an inclusive culture for all.

February is Black History Month, a time to reflect, celebrate, and amplify the contributions of Black individuals who have shaped history, culture, and society. It is an opportunity not only to honor the past but also to acknowledge the ongoing struggles and achievements of Black communities today.

At The Ties Program, we recognize that true celebration goes beyond words—it requires action. Each and every day, we are committed to uplifting marginalized voices, advocating for equity, and supporting initiatives that foster lasting change. This month, and every month, we pledge to continue our work in creating inclusive spaces, amplifying diverse narratives, and ensuring that the voices of and marginalized communities continue to be acknowledged and celebrated.

“And so we lift our gaze. Not to what stands between us. But to what stands before us.”

- Amanda Gorman, poet

We invite you to continue the dialogue with us beyond February by amplifying your stories, participating in our initiatives designed to support and celebrate Black and marginalized communities. By working together, we can ensure that Black history and diverse voices are honored not just for a month, but as an integral part of our collective history and future.
